Welsh Singer Duffy Picks Up Thee Brit Awards
The 24-year-old was named best British female and also won the British breakthrough award and Album of the year, which is voted for by the listeners of Radio 1. Accepting her first award, Duffy said: "It's a real honour to be here, I don't know what this means but it's a good job my mum didn't have a boy.

I Kissed a Girl singer Katy Perry was named best international female and admitted to feeling under the weather. She said: "I am so sick right now but they said to show up to the Brits because something special might happen."

Kings Of Leon Pick Up Second Award
The Kings of Leon were presented a BRIT Award for their album Only By The Night by undefeated Welsh boxing champion Joe Calzaghe. Only By The Night was crowned the international album of the year over AC/DC’s ‘Black Ice’, Fleet Foxes’ ‘Fleet Foxes’, The Killers’ ‘Day & Age’, and MGMT’s ‘Oracular Spectacular’.

Iron Maiden are the 2009 Best British Live Act
Iron Maiden are triumphant as the 2009 British Live Act, as voted for by listeners of BBC Radio 2.The award was announced by Hot Fuzz funnyman Nick Frost, but legendary rockers Iron Maiden gave a video acceptance speech after beating fellow top British live acts The Verve, Coldplay, Scouting For Girls and Elbow.

Elbow have been crowned the 2009 British Live Act by the world renowned heartbreaker, Night Rider and Baywatcher, David Hasselhoff! Elbow beat fellow top British groups Radiohead, Girls Aloud, Take That and Coldplay. Who the heck are Elbow!!!


Kayne Wins Best International Male
Finally, a decent artist picks up an award! Kanye West is crowned the International king of the BRITs 2009 by British fashion guru Gok Wan. Kanye West beat fellow International male artists Seasick Steve, Beck, Jay-Z and Neil Diamond.

Girls Aloud Win Best British Single
The hilariously outrageous Alan Carr announced Girls Aloud the winners of 2009 British Single, supported by listeners of participating UK commercial radio stations and The Sun newspaper.

During the initial online voting, nominees Adele, Alexandra Burke, Dizzee Rascal, Estelle and the X Factor Finalists were eliminated and after a period of phone voting, Coldplay, Duffy, Leona Lewis and Scouting for Girls were also eliminated, leaving Girls Aloud the winners.
