New Timbaland Announced

Coming soon to your radio will be Timbaland's 1st single off of his upcoming album, Shock Value 2. 'Meltdown' has been confirmed by MTV as the 1st single and expect radio to have it on January 5th. It is expected to leak earlier than that however. I certainly do hope so!

According to the United World Chart via MediaTraffic.de, which ranks the top-selling albums according to global sales figures and national album charts, Circus has finally placed #1! selling a total of 1,640,000 copies world wide as of last night!

Warner Remove Their Acts From YouTube

The Warner Music Group on Saturday (Dec. 20) pulled all of its music from YouTube as negotiations over payment with Google's video site reached an impasse. Warner's move will affect its recordings as well as the songs it owns through Warner/Chappell Music.

"We are working actively to find a resolution with YouTune that would enable the return of our artists' content to the site," Warner said in a statement. "Until then, we simply cannot accept terms that fail to appropriately and fairly compensate recording artists, songwriters, labels and publishers for the value they provide.

This year, Warner has more than 20 percent market share of albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and Atlantic is the No. 1 label in the U.S.

Leona Lewis I Will Be Music Video Pics

Leona Lewis was pictured while being arrested by a police officer on the set of her forthcoming music video I Will Be in Brooklyn, New York City yesterday. Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford will be featured in the clip.According to People:

“Chace went to London a couple months ago for meetings and to promote Gossip Girl. He went to a party and ended up meeting Leona. [The two] hit it off and talk every once in a while and have become fast friends… A couple weeks ago Leona called Chace and asked if he would be in her next video. He obviously said yes.”

“I Will Be”was produced by Dr. Luke and co-written by Avril Lavigne and Max Martin.

Girls Aloud Not Keen On US Label Offers

Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle has revealed that the group are reluctant to try for success in the US. The singer confirmed that the girls may decide to concentrate solely on the UK music market because they regard promotion in the States as too much hassle.

"Labels want to sign us," Coyle told RWD magazine. "But we're asking ourselves whether we really want to start off from scratch doing all the crap to work our way up again or are we happy at the level we're at now - where we have a safe haven in the States where no-one knows who we are or what we're doing?"

The band reportedly signed a new three-album deal earlier this month.

RIAA Will No Longer Sue You For Illegal Downloading

The RIAA’s efforts to clamp down on illegal file-sharing by suing thousands of people has proved to be not only massively ineffective but also the worst kind of P.R. Now the org that represents the music biz is waving the white flag, the Wall Street Journal reported this morning.

The RIAA’s new approach will be based on agreements with major ISPs under which it will send an email to the provider when it finds a provider's customers uploading tracks on P2Ps, WSJ’s Sarah McBride and Ethan Smith explained in the story. Depending on the agreement, the ISP will either forward the note to customers, or alert customers that they appear to be uploading music illegally, and ask them to stop.

If the file-sharing continues, they will get one or two more emails, possibly accompanied by reduced speeds from the ISP. Finally, the ISP may cut off their access altogether. Under the new strategy, the RIAA would no longer demand to know the customers' identity. The org said it has agreements in principle with some ISPs, but declined to name them.

Rihanna To Release Remix Album

Rihanna is going to ring in 2009 with a compilation of remixes from her double platinum Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded. The album is slated for a January 27th release and contains 12 tracks, 2 of which are remixes of her ubiquitous Umbrella.

Personally I think it's about time she lay Good Girl Gone Bad to rest now and starts to record new material. It's been Rihanna overkill this year, and there is a danger that people will get sick of her. Still, mayb there will be new material on the remix album itself?
